Kirk and Sarah made the trip from Des Moines to join us for a long cabin weekend 40 miles north of the town of Two Harbors on Lake Superior. (Click on the photos to enlarge).
Sarah of the North and Sarah of the South surveyed an expanse of Sand Lake.
Most, though not all of us, were impressed.
Much of the time, we ate…
…after which someone would do dishes in bowls of freezing and scalding water…
…while being spied on by Johanna of the North.
Up North, you can never have enough wood.
Games were played.
Sarah of the South took the style prize with a vintage Double Mint down jacket and pants acquired at a Salvation Army in Duluth.
But frankly, everyone was looking damn good.
Though we brought enough food for a week, alas it had to end after two nights.
We’ll be back in the warm season.
